GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION

The works will form part of the Triang Water Supply Scheme, which, when completed, will enable the transfer of raw water via tunnel and pipelines from Sg. Triang at Petaseh intake in Jelebu district to treatment works in Seremban district.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

The scope of work comprises:

1. 7.5km of 1700mm dia steel pipeline from Intake Pumping Station.
2. 4km of 1700mm dia from Bandar Klawang to Transfer Tunnel Inlet at Jambatan Serong.
3. Pipe jacking, pipe crossings, valve, chambers, wash out pipework and necessary concrete support in connection with steel pipelines.
4. All ancillary and other work necessary for the completion of the contract.

This Package was successfully completed in November 2009

The Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) New Campus project site is situated west of the Kota Samarahan Township, 25 kilometres southeast of Kuching.

This project involves the construction of 23 buildings – some of which up to 8 storeys – covering a gross floor area of approximately 250,000 square metres. The scope of works includes:

• Construction of the academic core buildings, laboratories, central facilities, residential facilities and sports facilities
• Development of the infrastructure for communications systems and information technology
• Mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering
• Plumbing
• Landscaping

Taisei-Zecon Joint Venture (TZJV) entered into contract on 30 July 2002 with UNIMAS to execute works in connection with the engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance of the UNIMAS development project.

Zecon Engineering Works Sdn. Bhd. has later on 11 October, 2002 entered into contract with TZJV as sub-general contractor.

Formed in April 2001, TZJV is an unincorporated joint venture between Taisei Corporation – a company incorporated in Japan – and Zecon Engineering Berhad.

This RM750.2 million project is accessible via the Kuching-Serian Highway, the Jalan Muara Tuang distributor road and the Kuching-Kota Samarahan Expressway.

The project comprise the followings:-

• the construction works of buildings and other relevant facilities for the UNIMAS’s new campus, including the mechanical, electrical and plumbing works and the supply of materials and plant; and
• the system design and engineering, supply, installation and set-up of the campus information technology network, information technology infrastructure and application systems.

The Sungai Muar Raw Water Transfer project commenced on 15 March, 2004. This project involved the construction and supervision of all civil and structural engineering works and building services.

ZECON has designed, manufactured, supplied, delivered, installed, tested and commissioned the mechanical and electrical works at the 100MLD intake site and raw water pumping station. The manufacture, supply and laying of the 17-kilometre DN1150mm mild steel concrete-lined pipeline for supplying water from the Muar River to the Talang Dam in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan have also been successfully completed.

The 6-lane, dual-deck Tun Salahudin Bridge is an elegant, low-level bridge over the Sarawak River that affords an unrestricted view of the river in both directions.

This bridge is a multi-span, pre-stressed concrete, 339 metres long, 28 metres wide, with a 325-metre embankment. It has a 1.5-metre central median and a granolithic pedestrian lane on either side, each 1.5 metres wide.

This balanced cantilever bridge has a navigational clearance height of 9.07 metres above water and a navigational channel width of 65 metres. It is complete with architectural finishes and lightings. The entire scope of this undertaking entailed, in addition to the structure of the bridge, the construction of a four-lane road, a toll plaza, a toll plaza administration building and a roundabout to conclude the proposed span of works.

The project was successfully completed in September 2003, and the bridge was officiated by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, on 21 September 2003. The toll road was then gazetted and concession commenced in October 2003.
