Datuk Dr Hj Yusof bin Hj Yacob has served the Government for more than 25 years since 1981 until his retirement as Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker in February 2008. During this period he had served in various capacities in several departments & ministries as follows:
Government Sector –
- Graduate Doctor and Medical Officer in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (1981 – 1982)
- Medical Officer in Daerah Keningau Hospital (1982)
- Senior Health Officer in Jabatan Kesihatan Beaufort Sabah (1982 – 1984)
- Senior Health Officer in Kesihatan Kota Kinabalu (Headquarter) (1985 – 1990)
Political Experience
- Branch UMNO Chief, Kg Pelakat (1991 – now)
- Head Division UMNO, Padas (1991 – 1995)
- Deputy Head Division UMNO, Sipitang (1995 – 1996)
- Barisan Nasional Committee Chairman, Parliament Sipitang (1993 – 1999)
- Barisan Nasional Liason Chairman, Parliament Sipitang (1995 – 2004)
- Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pembinaan Bangunan UMNO Sabah (1994 – now)
- Member of Parliament of Sipitang (1995 – Feb 2008)
- Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker (2004 – Feb 2008)

Datuk Dr Hj Yusof obtained his Degree of Doctorate (MD), UKM, in 1981, he holds a Master of Science in Public Health (MSc PH), NUS, Singapore.
