Scope of Works

The scope of works comprises of but not limited to all of the works below:-

(i) Site clearing, earthwork, demolition, foundation and structural works (IBS).

(ii) One block of building comprises of FMHS (Right wing).

(iii) One block of building comprises of FMHS and IHCM (Left wing).

(vii) IT Works

The Board of Directors of ZECON on 12 October 2009 announced that the Company had today, received a letter dated 08 October 2009,from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (“UNIMAS”), informing that UNIMAS has accepted the Company’s offer for The Proposed Design, Construction, Equipping, Commissioning & Maintenance of Faculty of Medicine & Health Science (FMHS) and Institute of Health & Community Medicine (IHCM) for The Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan, Sarawak (“the Project”) for a sum of RM182,000,000.00.

The duration for the Project is 30 months from the date of possession of the site which has been scheduled on 26 October 2009. The defects liability period for this Project is 24 months.

GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION

The Works will form part of the Triang Water Supply Scheme, which, when completed, will enable the transfer of raw water via tunnel and pipelines from Sg. Triang at Petaseh intake in Jelebu district to treatment works in Seremban district.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

The Scope Of Work Comprises:

A. Civil and Building Woks

1. Earth fill dam 66 metres high by 300meters long.
2. Spillway and Stilling Basin
3. 75 meters high Draw Off Tower,  Five (5) meters diameter horseshoe Diversion Tunnel
4. Foundation and fissure grouting at the Dam site.
5. Geotechnical instrumentation  of the Dam.
6. Site Clearance of about 240 hectares.
7. 4KM upgrading of existing Access Road.
8. Miscellaneous ancillary works including Service Buildings.

B. Mechanical and Electrical Works

1. Design, manufacture, testing at manufacturer’s works, delivery, installation, testing at site, setting to work and commissioning of plant and equipment for the M & E work.  Electrical distribution system and instrumentation system inclusive of all mechanical, electrical and other plant all as specified including valves, penstocks, pipeworks and fittings.

C. All other ancillary works required for the completion of the Works as necessary and as specified.

D. The training of the personnel of the Employer for the Operation and Maintenance of the Works.

As at the month of August 2010, the physical work-in-progress is approximately 32%

ZECON BERHAD Collaborates With A Qatari Company

MOU signed to develop a business relationship on providing services

Doha, Qatar: January 21, 2009 - ZECON BERHAD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with QATARI DIAR Real Estate Investment Company, an international leader in sustainable real-estate development, to pursue a cooperative business relationship, under which Zecon Berhad will provide services in relation to QATARI DIAR’s construction projects.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Zecon Berhad’s Group CEO/ Managing Director Datuk Hj Zainal Abidin Hj Ahmad and QATARI DIAR’s CEO, Mr. Ghanim Bin Saad Al-Saad. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi.

This unique business relationship will create a strong cooperation between Qatar and Malaysia, as Qatar will benefit from the know-how of the Malaysian expertise in civil engineering, building works, infrastructure and property development in several QATARI DIAR projects. Malaysia will have the opportunity to tap into Qatar market and to undertake several projects.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Ghanim bin Saad Al Saad, said: “QATARI DIAR is delighted to have signed this Memorandum of Understanding. We believe that this project highlights the strong relationship between our two countries and we look forward to working with Zecon Berhad on our developments. This exemplifies QATARI DIAR’s focus of creating long term sustainable partnerships.”

1. 7.5km of 1700mm dia steel pipeline from Intake Pumping Station.
2. 4km of 1700mm dia from Bandar Klawang to Transfer Tunnel Inlet at Jambatan Serong.
3. Pipe jacking, pipe crossings, valve, chambers, wash out pipework and necessary concrete support in connection with steel pipelines.
4. All ancillary and other work necessary for the completion of the contract.

This Package was successfully completed in November 2009
